Feb 24 (Mon) to 27 (Thu) and Optional Science Tours on Feb 28 (Fri)
Sep 29 (Mon) to Oct 2 (Thu) and Optional Science Tour on Oct 3 (Fri)
Would you like to optimize energy use and decarbonize your manufacturing facilities? Would you like to understand how energy efficiency could play an important role in decarbonizing your energy systems?
Join us at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and participate in U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Plants Program’s Energy Bootcamp February and September 2025. This workshop, with extensive hands-on activities, has been created to educate attendees on the key aspects of energy efficiency and fundamentals of energy management. The course will cover energy management, process heating, steam, compressed air and other motor-driven systems, along with an introduction to alternative energy options. Finally, attendees will learn how to use diagnostic equipment along with DOE’s free software tools for identifying energy savings opportunities and quantifying cost savings. By implementing energy efficiency technologies, manufacturing facilities can start reducing energy and carbon intensities now. This boot camp will give participants immediate energy efficiency solutions to begin decarbonizing now.
The target audience for this course is people who are new to industrial energy efficiency and energy management systems. It would also be good for seasoned professionals who need a refresher on the fundamentals.
This industrial-focused workshop is targeted specifically towards individuals who are relatively new to a role in energy efficiency/management, junior staff, or seasoned folks who need a refresher on energy efficiency fundamentals. Individuals who should consider the workshop include plant energy managers, energy analysts, engineers, facility managers, electrical managers and management personnel with the responsibility for plant utilities oversight.
The workshop will take place over the course of three and a half days – Feb 24 (starts at 3pm ET) to Feb 27 and Sep 29 (starts at 3pm ET) to Oct 2, 2025. There will be an optional 5th day on Feb 28 and Oct 3, 2025 for science tours where participants will have the opportunity to tour the various laboratories of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (including: ORNL’s Supercomputer, the Graphite Reactor, the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility which houses some of world’s premier 3D printing capabilities).
Information coming soon!
The nearest airport is Knoxville’s Tyson McGee Airport. The event will be held at ORNL’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) – address: 2350 Cherahala Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932. As a note – participants should not travel to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Main Campus.
There are multiple hotel options available in the Oak Ridge and West Knoxville (Turkey Creek) areas.
